Song Lyrics
Widow of the Wind By Jack Barksdale 2017
There’s a woman I know
Everyday she visits a gravestone
She cries until her eyes turn red
She was once your wife
now she’s the widow of the wind
And she hasn’t slept
in that bed
Where you were troubled
and decided the best thing to do
was to lay down your head
With the widow of the wind
a smile is only a dream
She so badly wants to put herself to sleep
But she would never
‘cause she knows how it feels
to have a friend that’s only a flower in the field.
At the break of dawn
you will find her down
At the graveyard picking some flowers that she’s found
But if you listen to the words she’s mumblin’
You’ll find out that those flowers are a long lost friend
The widow of the wind wears an old black rugged veil
And She wanders to herself
was it my fault? Did I fail?
I tried to be the best wife that I could be
But he would not be gone if he loved me
There’s a woman I know
Everyday she visits a gravestone
She cries until her eyes turn red
She was once your wife
now she’s the widow of the wind
Tear After Tear by Jack Barksdale 2017
I went out of my mind to get out of your way
Now I’ve got nothing to do and nothing to say
And I can’t believe that you did the same thing
over and over until I just had to say
I’m sorry my friend but we’re breaking up again
There was nothing I could do to get the bad out of you
I tried knocking on wood that didn’t do me any good
But now I know there’s no way you will change
There’s nothing I can do and nothing I can say
I tried and tried so many times
But that didn’t have an effect on the love that I would get
It was fight after fight, tear after tear
So when you wake up in the morning I won’t be here
I’m sorry my friend but we’re breaking up again
There was nothing I could do to get the bad out of you
I tried knocking on wood that didn’t do me any good
But now I know there’s no way you will change
There’s nothing I can do and nothing I can say
I tried to keep you from the cocaine
Keep you from the pills
And I spend all my money trying to pay your bills
When I think of how much you suffered I get the chills
It’s gonna cost you in the end you know it will
I’m sorry my friend but we’re breaking up again
There was nothing I could do to get the bad out of you
I tried knocking on wood that didn’t do me any good
But now I know there’s no way you will change
There’s nothing I can do and nothing I can say
I’m sorry my friend but we’re breaking up again
There was nothing I could do to get the bad out of you
I tried knocking on wood that didn’t do me any good
But now I know there’s no way you will change
There’s nothing I can do and nothing I can say
Life Advice by Jack Barksdale 2017
When life is weighing you down and your thinking negative
Think of all the good things and the life you live
Don’t try to drink anything, out of your mind
Don’t wait for the future, don’t waste your time
Because you only have so much time to live
And there are so many things to see, love and give
You’re never finished, you’re never done
You’re always learning, but you can always have fun
Don’t make excuses, that only makes things worse
It’s not smart to put things off, until they start to hurt
Try to make things happen, try to make things work
It’s time to stop laughing at those workers like a jerk
Because you only have so much time to live
And there are so many things to see, love and give
You’re never finished, you’re never done
You’re always learning, but you can always have fun.
I took this advice; I’m not saying you have too
Just try it out, and see if it works for you
So turn off that TV, read a book
And stop being lazy and take the advice that I took.
Because you only have so much time to live
And there are so many things to see, love and give
You’re never finished, you’re never done
You’re always learning, but you can always have fun.
You’re always learning, but you can always have fun.
The Ballad of Captain Hook by Jack Barksdale 2017
When I was just a boy
people said I was weird
They said you may be welcome everywhere else
but you aren’t welcome here
Stop coming in
Just stay out
Cause if you come back in
you aren’t coming out anyhow
Now I’m all grown up
and all those bullies
Turned me into the thing
I never wanted to be
A bully to the world
A bandit, a crook
And everybody calls me Captain Hook
But everybody still says
Stop coming in
Just stay out
Cause if you come back in
you aren’t coming out anyhow
Now it’s been 60 years since I’ve been in the world’s hair
And as you probably expected
I’m going to the chair
So goodbye Neverland
And goodbye grass
Hey Peter Pan you can kiss my BZZZZZZZZZ
Now nobody says
Stop coming in
Just stay out
Cause if you come back in
you aren’t coming out anyhow
Haven’t Had the Blues Yet by Jack Barksdale 2017
I haven’t had the blues yet, I haven’t had the blues yet
I’m only nine going on ten, Nobody’s tryin’ to get me down
All of my friends are still around, True love I haven’t met
So I haven’t had the blues yet
There’s a man I know
He has no bed, no home
He says he wishes he was me
Not having to worry about the money
And I haven’t had the blues yet, I haven’t had the blues yet
I’m only nine going on ten, nobody’s tryin to get me down
All of my friends are still around, true love I haven’t met
So I haven’t had the blues yet
There’s a girl I met
She has no parents
She says she wishes she had my life
Where you can play all day and sleep all night
And I haven’t had the blues yet, I haven’t had the blues yet
I’m only nine going on ten, nobody’s tryin to get me down
All of my friends are still around, true love I haven’t met
So I haven’t had the blues yet
There’s a man he’s 80 years old
He has to live in a nursing home
But he sees beauty in everything
He could see beauty in a centipede
So he hasn’t had the blues yet, he hasn’t had the blues yet
Even though he isn’t a kid, he doesn’t let anybody get him down
He doesn’t need his friends to be around, he doesn’t let love get to him
So he hasn’t had the blues yet
I haven’t had the blues yet, I haven’t had the blues yet
I’m only nine going on ten, nobody’s tryin to get me down
All of my friends are still around, true love I haven’t met
So I haven’t had the blues yet
I haven’t had the blues yet, I haven’t had the blues yet
I’m only nine going on ten, nobody’s tryin to get me down
All of my friends are still around, true love I haven’t met
So I haven’t had the blues yet
My Mother By Jack Barksdale 2016
Why can’t I hear my mother any more
When I knock no one answers the door
The door stays closed
No one says come in
I wish I could see my mother again
She was so sweet
She was so nice
She would always understand when I stay up late at night.
She was never mean
She was always fun
We used to sit around and make up funny puns
Why can’t I hear my mother anymore
When I knock no one answers the door
The door stays closed
No one says come in
I wish I could see my mother again
I wish I could see my mother again
I Hope I Make Her Happy By Jack Barksdale 2016
There’s a flower in the valley, picking her flower friends
She looks so nice and so pretty especially when the day begins
She’s got to be an angel there’s no way she couldn’t be
She’s an angel straight from Heaven, she’s more than holy
Every day I get awoken when she’s prayin
She always prays at dinner, when she’s done…our food is cold by then
But I hope I make her happy, never make her mad
I hope I make her happy and never make her sad
I hope I make her happy and nothing but that
I hope I make her happy and some day we’ll have a little lad
At least that’s my point of view, but you can tell me yours if you want too
Cause she’s leavin’ me to go find someone new
And now she’s gone and I’m so blue
But I hope HE makes her happy and never makes her mad
I hope HE makes her happy and never makes her sad
I hope HE makes her happy and nothing but that
I hope HE makes her happy…the way I thought I had
She Left Me by Jack Barksdale 2016
One day you said you were going out to get the paper
But instead you left my life forever
When I found out you left me
I wept and wept
And that night I barely ever slept
One day you said you needed some more from me
I thought you meant you needed more love or something
I never thought you meant someone new
I never thought the person to leave me would be you
One day you said you were going out to get the paper
